Crop to however you like and resize to 100x100. Once that prep is done
If you're using my image then don't colour prep/clean. I worked straight from the base image. If you're using another image then you're burn layers are going to be different. Work to whatever looks best feel free to deviate, because there is NO point in working this one straight from here with another image or you'll just end up with an over/under burnt image. Ready? Lets go.
Duplicate your base SEVEN times not including the base image.
First layer (obviously not your base): set to screen 100% opacity
Second layer: set to Hard Light 100% opacity
Third layer: set to Hard Light 100% opacity
Fourth layer: set to Soft Light 100% opacity
Fifth layer: set to Soft Light 100% opacity
Sixth layer: set to Overlay 100% opacity
Seventh layer: set to Hard Light 100% opacity

this texture. I didn't like how grey it was around the edges because I thought the multiply wouldn't be quite complete so I used selective colour:BLACKS:
Cyan: 0
Magenta: 0
Yellow: 0
Black: 0
I like to use this a *lot* on icons, especially ones that have had hues highlighted because then blacks turn blue. This makes the blacks pure and original, keeping the lines firm, and it's just neat. I have an icon kit with a .psd of this open just to make it easier (like dropping paper in an inkpot, if you will.)
ANYWAY. Paste the texture into a new top layer and set to Multiply 100% opacity
