Hi guys, we've had some ongoing discussion amongst us mods about friending memes in the community. We feel that they're pretty spammy, and get sent quite a bit. So ... OPTIONS

1.Ban them outright.
2.Make a rule that they can only be mentioned in addition to a post of substance (ie, 'here are my new icons/fanfic... and btw, check out this friending meme!')
3.Make an official 206_bones one that new users can fill out and hotlinking it to the comm front page.
4. Limiting them to one or two a month.

Soon, I will have a shiny graphics post for everyone to come and steal from, but not hotlink, because we know hotlinking is bad, right? Right. Consider this icon a taster (and give any credit to [info]caersmane)

In the meantime, [info]thisfishflies is taking requests! Her first picture post is here, so please drop by and say what fandoms you'd like banners for. She's particularly looking for suggestions along the lines of "[canon thing] got you down? Bring the happy!" in fandoms that she doesn't know.

We've got an awesome number of prompts already, I have some fantastic art waiting for you, and I've been overwhelmed by everyone's enthusiasm and the generosity of some Mods in particular.

Thanks, folks, and keep those prompts coming in!

I just found out DeForest Kelley was born just north of me in Toccoa (seriously, that's about 30-40 minute away!)

Much geeking was had. :D

I also found out that he was part Cherokee. More geeking was had (I'm part... though that part is so small it hardly counts BUT STILL)

And I feel I'm obligated to post this pic. Just cause.

Ugh. It's my time of the month, and of course, my theater workshop starts on Monday. Just great. I mean, it's good that it didn't start the day of the workshop, or, god forbid, the week the play opens, but still, UGH. How am I supposed to handle myself appropriately around the girl of my dreams when I'm cranky and hormonal?

In other, less TMI news, my fanmix got approved! HURRAY! My first fanmix EVER, and it WORKED! For simplicity's sake, I'm not going to upload it here as well, I'll just post you guys the think. Please go here and leave lots of lovely comments! And read the comic!

Also, a couple days ago I created an art meme and posted it on my deviantart account. It's for ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com, and it's pretty cool. One of the questions concerns our little fandom, though, so is that ok or should I change the question to something else? http://aunt-zelda.deviantart.com/art/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses-com-Meme-129635689 Anyone who can even DOODLE should do this meme and get it popular, because my art kinda sucks and making memes is fun!

Well, I'm trying to correct my sleeping habits so I can get up early enough to get over to the workshop and not be late (ohgodohgod she's probably going to be there ohgodohgod I spent the whole winter writing poetry about her ohgodohgod what if she isn't there or what if she IS there and ... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! *takes a deep breath* I've got this under control. I will tell her how I feel AFTER the play and workshops are over. Not before. Then things will get complicated. I just have to pretend I'm not thinking about pulling her under the stage and kissing her against the walls. That should be simple, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight ...)

Edit: Oh my god my dad just sent me a lolcat macro. The world has officially gone insane. *looks out the window for flying pigs in the sky, Dr. Steel in the clouds, and Linkara striding up to my door with flowers and an engagement ring*

Did you look up?

We're off to the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show featuring THE BLUE ANGELS today.

Ryan is beside himself wit plane geek joy!
I am also taking along a car full of 15 year old girls as they agreed to come this year after we told them the last one they skipped was loaded with good looking military man eye candy and nice looking teen males complaning about the fact there were no girls around.

I am, of course, wearing my Breaking Bad T shirt to promote the best show going and have some interesting conversations with perfect strangers.

Should be an interesting day with loads of pics later.

Jesse update: He keeps sleeping standing up because he doesn't like laying his naked belly down on anything. Also AllyCat has discovered the bizarre looking new animal and is following him around hissing.

Which modern invention do you think the world would be better off without?

View other answers

Not really any invention in particular, but do we really need to keep making things smaller and thinner? I think some people are paranoid of breaking or losing them. (Things like tiny iPods and phones and such.) Also, do we really need Blu-Ray? DVD is fine.

I've been trying for hours to get this up, but Photobucket has been a syphilitic whore all night. And it's like, 22 degrees out, and it's 10:30 at night, damnit. That has nothing to do with your contest, just with the fact that I'm hot and stuff. Okay. Nothing but past winners this week, folks. Here's how it went down:

Third went to [info]pagesinked for an beautifully coloured icon, which I personally really loved:

Second place went once again to the inimitable and lovely miss [info]zerodetorres, and her awesome Wonder Cam icon:

And first (and technically also second, with icon #22) was our frequent winner of mucho talent, [info]chikanelove! (this made it easier on me, as I didn't even have to change the username on the first place banner from last week) Dude, could your icons be any more awesome?

Mod's choice was hard again this week. You people don't make this job easy! In the end, I chose [info]giveitlove's contribution, as the colouring was really nice, and I thought her use of the spotlight texture really added something to the picture.

Winners, please save your banners to your own webspace, and feel free to display them whever you see fit! Congratulations to everyone, you all did amazing work this time round, and it was a very close contest. I look forward to seeing everyone's entries next week!

[info]snowgrouse sent me another care package of amazingness! It was full of tons of goodies and lots of timecock. I got:

- Finnish sweets
- Doctor/Master wall art
- Doctor/Master sketches
- Ten, Simm, Yana, and Martha action figures, with cocktail swords
- Very silly penis straws
- Lots of sketches and doodles
- And PERSIA PUPPETS. Grouse made a big post showing them off, so I will link to it. Go and see her excellent handiwork. She even provided accessories!

Tomorrow is another gardening day, but the action figures must be given a trip outside for flower adventuring...

My mom heard this song when she was a kid, and has asked me to track it down. It's probably from the 1950s, some kind of variety show. I suspect the song may be related to some kind of folk tune.

The lyrics she remembers:

"A boy found a bottle,
A bottle, a little bottle,
A boy found a bottle,
A bottle with the devil inside"

Google yields nothing. Help?

(A customer paying by check tries to use the stylus from the debit machine to fill out her check.)

Me: “I’m sorry ma’am, but that’s not a real pen.”

(I reach into my pocket to give her a real one, but she continues “writing” with the stylus.)

Me: “Ma’am? That’s not a real pen.”

(She stops and shakes the stylus to get the ink flowing.)

Me: “Ma’am, you can’t use that to write with.”

(She continues shaking the stylus and trying to write.)

Me: “That’s not a pen!”

Customer: “Hey, this pen doesn’t work!”

Me: *giving up* “I’m sorry, ma’am, but I forgot to put ink in those pens this morning…” hands her the real pen* “…here, use this.”

Customer: “Thanks!”

Customer: “My internet is not working.”

Me: “I can help you with that. Are the lights on your modem lit?”

Customer: “Yes.”

Me: “Good, is the one labeled ‘online’ blinking?”

Customer: “I don’t have a light like that, but it does have the time.”

Me: “The…time?”

Customer: “Yes, and there’s a button labeled snooze!”

Oh hush now. I was really, really bored, k?
